Five on Friday!

Thank the Lord, it is Friday! For real... it has been unbearably cold this week, and I haven't been able to concentrate much with all of the fun holiday festivities coming up! We have dinner with friends tonight, John's firm's Christmas party on Saturday, and we have quite a few things to get done on Sunday in preparation for Christmas Eve dinner.

To recap the week, I'm linking up with the lovely ladies of The Good LifeCarolina CharmA. Liz Adventures, and Hello Happiness for everybody's favorite link up, Five on Friday!

Design by wine.

This past weekend I went to one of the "painting with a twist" classes with my husband's mother, and it was quite fun! I am a terrible artist, but I have fun pretending (and painting while drinking wine makes me feel fancy). Although I have fun painting, I am not totally into displaying it. I will say, however, that it is fun to see how everyone, each following the same instructions, all create something very different. Over all, the wine part is my favorite. :)

Scout's "me-too"

Growing up, for my husband's birthday he would always receive gifts from his grandmother, and so his younger brother wouldn't feel left out (or vice-versa), his grandmother would send a "me-too" gift for the other person.  Well this year, little Scout received a "me-too" for Christmas! She is going to be having a very merry Christmas with some sort of very large stuffed toy.

A "Me Too" for Scout; perhaps a bone, snack or toy!!

Nelson Mandela

As most people know, Nelson Mandela passed away last week. This was sad for many (obvious) reasons, but it was particularly sad for me because South Africa (and Nelson Mandela) hold a special place in my heart. When I was in undergrad, I lived in South Africa for almost six months as an exchange student at a University of KwaZulu-Natal. It was such an incredible experience... Here are some photos of Robben Island (where Nelson Mandela was held in prison for 26 years) that I took when I was there.

John and I have best friend soul-mates and we can hardly wait until we get to see them next month when they come to visit.  Christmas is certainly my favorite holiday, but Jameson and Val visiting is definitely my second favorite holiday this year (John and Jameson even have a standing weekly phone date). Check out Val's blog! John is all about jam packed scheduled fun, and he already has an itinerary for the long weekend.

And the text goes on, and on, and on...

Real Housewives of NYC

Where have you been?? I thought you were going to be gone forever! I am so glad you're back!! I must admit, I love this terrible, terrible TV show (but don't worry - I only follow OC, BH, NY, and NJ - a girl's got to prioritize). Anyway, let's just say I am looking forward to this. :)

  2. I want to do one of those painting wine things so badly!!!! :) Have a fabulous weekend!

  3. i was wondering where there NYC housewives had been hiding! stopping by from the link-up! have a happy weekend :)

  4. Great job painting, and I love the idea of a me too gift, so cute.

  5. We have a wine & design place right up the street from our house and I've been itching to go in the worst way. It looks so much fun!! And the "me too" gift is too darling. Loving your 5 today lady! xo

  6. Stopping by from the link up! Love your blog! And I am a huge real housewives fan as well! Have a great weekend!

  7. I have a feeling that wine would most definitely be my favorite part of that adventure too. I seem to be crafty but painting is not included in that AT ALL. I love that scarf it looks wonderful!
