Five on Friday!

Happy Friday! As usual, I'm linking up with Darci, Christina, Natasha, and April!

ONE

My parents come to visit next week!

My mom and dad live in Minneapolis and they are coming to visit John and me on Thursday!  This is fabulous for many reasons... first, and most obviously, it means I get to see and spend time with them, but it also means that I only have a three day work week!

John and I have been planning their visit for a while now, so it will fun to have them actually here.

TWO

March Madness Brackets!

Did you pick your brackets?!  I'll have you know that I am very methodical in the way I choose my bracket, and just so happens that I won my family pool last year!

I use a highly methodical four step method...
1)  First, I go through my bracket and fill out the winners according to their seed (for example, 8 beats 9, 9 beats 10, etc.).
2)  Next, so it doesn't look like I only picked according to seed, I switch a few randomly around (mostly the 8th and 9th seeds).
3)  Then, I go through the brackets and change the teams or schools that I don't like to automatically loose.  For example, I work at University of New Mexico, so to make for interesting co-worker conversations, I had them losing in the first round.
4)  Finally, good 'ole Google.  I usually read 4 or 5 articles and pick my final 2 and winner off of who everyone else picks.

As you can see, my bracket requires zero knowledge of anything basketball - I'm not doing super well yet... but there's plenty of time for it to pick up!  Much to my hubby's sadness, I have Florida winning (he is a Florida State undergrad and University of Michigan law school alum), and I have my alma mater, Michigan State, going to the final four... we will see how it goes!

THREE

Homemade Jalapeno Poppers!

If you need a little treat while watching all of your March Madness basketball games, these guys are the perfect choice!

What you need:
- Jalapenos
- String Cheese
- Egg roll Wraps

How to:
1.  Begin by removing all of the seeds and ribs from inside of the jalapeno (make sure you do a good job - those things are hot!).
2.  Next, blanch the jalapenos so they are slightly tender.
3.  Put a string cheese (or a portion of one) inside of each pepper.
4.  Roll the jalapenos inside an egg roll wrapper and fry in peanut oil for 2 minutes on each side.
5.  Place the peppers on a paper towel to cool before serving.

FOUR

Green Power Juice!

This juice has an intense amount of greens, but I was surprised by its pleasant taste!  You will definitely get in your veggie quota with this drink.

- Kale
- Spinach
- Romaine
- Parsley
- Cucumber
- Celery
- Apple
- Lemon
- Ginger

FIVE

Mary Kate and Ashley!

Seriously, I still love Mary Kate and Ashley... did you see this BuzzFeed article?  It is pretty much amazing.  I distinctly remember going to get my hair cut as a little girl and explaining that I needed their exact style.  Serious business, people.

And I could not agree more with their final pick: It Takes Two... "Not only is this the best Olsen movie of all time, it’s probably the best movie of all time." Amen.

  15. Lisa! 1. You look JUST like your Mom! I love it! 2. Why oh why didn't you put up that helpful March Madness tutorial last week? I only found out what the "seed" was afterwards and my method was picking names I liked, lol. Like I have Baylor down to win the whole darn thing because Baylor sounds like Taylor and I love my daughter. Hahahahaha! Needless to say my method stunk because I am in last place out of practically 100 people from my office. Next year I will use a different strategy.

  32. I totally share your love for Mary Kate and Ashley. That article makes me want to watch some of their movies. Maybe they're on Netflix? Love your method for filling out your bracket. I work for Clemson University and they made it real easy by not even making it to the tournament. Hope you have a wonderful visit with your parents, sweet girl!

  36. Hope you are enjoying the weekend with your wonderful parents! And how is your bracket holding up? Mercer beating Duke really tore mine apart :( but thats okay because UNC is still in!

  37. I have Florida winning and MSU in the final four, too! I can't believe so many "experts" picked MSU to win it all.. that has to be a bad sign haha. And I will definitely be making those jalapeno poppers - love that you make them with string cheese, so easy!

  38. Beautiful pic of you and your parents!! Happy weekend!

  40. Discovered your blog from Lindsey's Liebster Award nominations and I have to say that jalapeno popper recipe looks DELISH!! I may just have to try those as that is something both the hubby and I enjoy to eat. Also love your method to choosing how to pick teams for your brackets. I definitely pick some of mine based on the school names or even school colors. I also always pick one underdog... so either a 16 over a 1, a 15 over a 2, or a 14 over a 3... just to keep things interesting because in past years there has always been one bracket buster like that!
