Rice Krispy Treat Eggs

Linking up for Tuesday Tea with Khala, Sam, Renee and Jenni!

Have you made rice krispy treats before?  This was my first time making rice krispy treats at home and they were sooo yummy, but boy they were a mess!!

Since I had never done this before, I have no idea if the level of messiness I experienced is normal or not, but let's just say, had they not been so yummy, I would have stopped half-way through and frustratedly thrown it all away (am I selling you on making these yet...?).

Very unfortunately, these were delicious and I ate them all...

I followed the standard Rice Krispy recipe (except added extra marshmallows, of course).

- 3 tablespoons of butter
- 1 10oz package of marshmallows
- 4 cups of miniature marshmallows
- 6 cups of Rice Krispies

1.  In a large saucepan melt butter over low heat.  Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.  Remove from heat.
2.  Add the Rice Krispies and stir until well coated.
3.  Using a buttered spatula or wax paper, press evenly into a pan coated with cookie spray.

After the Rice Krispy treats cool, use an egg-shaped cookie cutter and cut out egg-shaped treats.

Use frosting to decorate.

Please tell me that I'm not the only one who decorates the first 3 flawlessly, then it goes down hill from there... like, pretty steeply down hill!

And how about some coffee with these treats?! Or Tea?!

  4. You know I'm a fan of anything Rice Krispy treat related and these are way too cute! Lils and I might try our own little go around at them. I must say, they are typically a gooey mess to make but oh so worth it! Right?

  9. Aren't Rice Krispies the best? I think they are 10x better when they're homemade too. And Valentines day I used cookie cutters to make mine more festive; isn't it great its that simple? Cute post as always sweet Lisa!

  12. I've seen the kind you shove in a plastic egg and pop out, but I like these even better! I've never made a huge mess making them at home though...what part was messy? Stirring is never my favourite though. I think I just found my Easter treat. I was thinking lemon bars, but those take more effort.
