Summer Bucket List

I have a really hard time believing that today is the 1st of June - what?!  I honestly feel like I just put away my Christmas decorations (well, maybe because I did... just kidding, but no really).

What's even crazier about June is that it will mean that John and I have officially lived in Arizona for 1 year! I honestly feel like we just moved here, and it's crazy to think about how quickly time has flown.  We have settled in quite nicely... yet, neither of us are looking forward to the upcoming 100 degree temperatures!

Summer in the Phoenix area pretty much means getting out of dodge whenever you can (or, hibernating inside and having a pool nearby!).  I figured I better start mapping out a bucket list now, that way we won't run out of "staying cool" ideas half-way through the summer!

Baseball Game

Unlike most baseball stadiums, the Arizona Diamondbacks play inside... which means air conditioning and the works!  A baseball game (or two) will most definitely be a must this summer!

Explore a New National Park

John and I love national parks, and there are several nearby that would make for a great long weekend road trip.  Zion National Park is about 6 hours away, and John and I have both been wanting to explore for awhile.

And although we've been to the Grand Canyon several times, the 4 hour drive can't be beat for a weekend adventure!

Beach Weekend

A beach weekend was on my bucket list last summer, but we didn't quite get a chance to check it off.  San Diego is only a 5 hour drive away, and I am absolutely determined to have a lazy, sun tannin', ocean weekend this summer!

Camping Trip

John and I have a ton of camping gear, and a good camping trip is most certainly on my summer bucket list.  And the best part is that Scout can join in on the camping fun too!

Use My DSLR

I am finalllyyy starting to pick up on how to use my DSLR properly.  I have been operating under the mindset that if I'm not shooing in manual (or at least a semi-auto mode - aperture priority for the win!), then I should just be using my iPhone for the convenience.

Well, y'all, I'm finally making progress... which is why "mastering" my DSLR is on my summer bucket list (please note that by "mastering" I mean, working functionally...).
Lucky for me, I have a "model" to practice with! ;)

What's on your summer bucket list?!

  1. Great list! One of my favorite summertime things to do is go to baseball games, and yay for air conditioning so you can enjoy the game without sweating!

  3. I just shared our list, and camping is definitely on it! We have already been once, but we want to go 2-3 more times.
My husband and I had the opportunity to spend a weekend in Arizona two summers ago. We planned it so that we would be out there when our home town Reds were playing the D-Backs. We went to the game, and it was so weird to us to watch baseball inside. BUT It was nice to not worry about getting sunburned at the game!

  9. Sounds like a great list!! Except I have to be honest and say that camping wouldn't be on my list lol. I guess I'm more of a glamping kind of girl haha. Anyway, I hope that you get to do all of the things on your list!! I also hope that you guys had a nice weekend! :-)

  17. I love that you listed air conditioning as a baseball game feature! Our nearest team has an indoor field too (with a retractable roof) but it's just not the same. I love the outdoor parks. Butttt I am in the north and totally get why you would need it in Arizona!

  18. Pretty sure the rangers need to follow the Dbacks! Oh my friend's husband got called up to play for them - root for Chase Anderson for us!! I intend to respond to your DSLR email. I've been looking for something to send you to say YES, this is enough! Take me to San Diego with you?

  19. I can't believe you have already been there for a year! Wow how time flies! You have tons of great stuff on your bucket list this summer. Learning my DSLR is on my summer bucket list, I've had that thing for a year and still don't know what to do with it - send any good pointers my way!

  20. So many fun outdoorsy things! Nice that you can go to a lot of things only a few hours away. It feels like it takes forever just to drive out of FL. Bonus of being landlocked I suppose - you can go in all directions.

  24. My family was camping this past weekend and Cory begged me to go get a tent so we could stay with them. I may have to add this to our list for the summer! I can't believe how close y'all are to so many different things!
